Something big is up.

There is no way Bush will cave and fire him. He has never done that in the past and I don't believe he will in the future.

Could be some inteligence or proof of WMD. We will just have to wait and see.

I doubt it is Sadam. That would leak out.

Sounds to me like there's been a change in plans.

I think American forces are in great hands so long as Bush and Rumsfeld are around.

I can't imagine Bush is asking for his resignation, especially not in such a public way. If Bremer was to step down, it would be for the good old "family reasons," and they would not be so foolish as to blow off a meeting with the Poles to call Bremer on the carpet in D.C.

Bremer Returns to Washington Amid Frustration in Iraq

By Ariana Eunjung Cha, Peter Slevin and Fred Barbash Washington Post Staff Writers Tuesday, November 11, 2003; 11:29 AM

BAGHDAD, Nov. 11 -- L. Paul Bremer, the U.S. civilian administrator in Iraq, is returning unexpectedly to Washington for high level consultations amid continued frustration with the performance of Iraq's U.S.-appointed Governing Council, administration officials said Tuesday.

The Bush administration is considering changes in the structure and timing of Iraq's transition self-governance, including a new Iraqi constitution and elected government, said an administration official involved in Iraq policy in Washington.

In September, Bremer outlined a seven-step plan for Iraqi sovereignty. "It's beginning to be realized that it's not going to follow that path," the official said. "And we need some kind of provisional government that we can give some kind of authority to. The whole political piece is a work in progress. He's got a lot of work to do."

Bremer's mission will be to "consult, consult, consult," particularly on Iraq's political structure, the official said.

One issue under discussion is the sequence of restoring sovereignty to Iraq. The Bush administration appears to be backing away from its earlier insistence that a constitution must be written and ratified by nationwide referendum before Iraqis gain significant sovereignty.

I hope it's some sort of personal family emergency. Otherwise, it indicates a huge fight going on internally in the administration sparked by the Abizaid comments.

There is a new initiative in explaining to the American people the combining of the civil reconstruction and the military cleansing of Iraq.

Their whole media concept is changing.

Just a guess, of course.

U.S. governor, Paul Bremer, has left for Washington at short notice and canceled a meeting on Tuesday with visiting Polish Prime Minister Leszek Miller, the Polish delegation said.

My a-hole is puckering. Sounds like Al-Qaeda is on the verge of a strike.

Here's a novel thought, suppose that we know have conclusive evidense that Russia, France and or Germany have been aiding and abetting the Baath Party during this entire conflict. Suppose it has something to do with the two M1s that were hit, one with a series of landminds, the other with some hypervelocity kinetic weapon or direct energy weapon.

Could it involve China and N. Korea?

We do live in interesting times.
