It takes a certain "type" of female to pose naked or perform sex acts for a camera. Believe it or not, a lot of those "type" of women live in the suburbs, are wives and mothers, have jobs, pay taxes, are Girl Scout den mothers, etc.
In other words, they are perfectly normal, healthy women without the prudish hangups over sex that still linger on in some quarters

I am disgusted by the fact that on Free Republic, a forum that normally prides itself of getting the facts straight, people are spilling the most vile filth about this young lady based on nothing more than reading a headline. It is repulsive and shameful, isn't it?

here's a thought.....does anybody think that her remarks regarding the pentagon and military could be blackmail comments as a result of flynt trying to get at GWB?
he could use the pics to get her to say things she may not believe.
just a thought
koz.

I know, that not all of the American men are like that, but like I said it's a cultural thing.
Thanks for your respond anyway, you know, that we Europeans are not shameless, wild and sex-obsessed. We are more raised the "natural" way.

Mine neither! In fact I had one threaten to do something with the lens that I think is physically impossible East of San Franciso...

The Iraqi doctor who helped to save her called her a hero on Joe Scarborough's show tonight....but what does he know? Right?

Laz,
Gutter behavior is just that. Had she been photographed for a nude study, you would be on much more sound ground as such art has a long and well accepted history. But if the thread has the content of the putative photos right, these were amateur Playboy/Penthouse type shots.
Also, given the Arab world allowing some males four wives, it therefore follows that three have no wife. So it is likely that she may have been raped all during her capture. It is not unknown for Arabs to rape a Western woman who has unset broken bones, and while still on the battlefield, too.

That word means different things to different people. There are an awful lot of people who are uncomfortable using it to describe Lynch, and in spite of what the Iraqi doctor called her, they have a right to their opinion also. My personal opinion is that she is a hero only in the broad sense of the word, the way that every person who serves is a hero.
Regarding the article, I heard of the existence of these pictures quite a while back. Some people simply have no bottom (not referring to her here - referring to Flynt and the ______ who sold the pictures).

That word means different things to different people.Yes, but it is in danger of being cheapened by those who profess to defend it. How ironic.

She didn't ask for this... Yes, she did. That's exactly what she invited when she dropped her top for the camera. Any camera.
I am getting so sick of the entire Jessica Lynch phenomenon, the new Joe Millionaire is starting to look good to me.

I completely disagree. There is nothing that "cheapens" the word by reserving it for people like Donald Ruhl or John Basilone. Just the opposite, in fact. If anyone is cheapening it, it's those who fling it around like candy.
To: Paul Atreides
I have wondered why the media is lavishing so much attention on Lynch. Especially, in light of the other POWs being rescued. Jessica Lynch is a media creation. She's a cross between a radical feminist working class heroine and a Perils of Pauline chained-to-the-railroad-tracks victim. She's tailor-made for this media-drunk culture.
I don't want to take away from her ordeal, but I have wondered if the media like the woman-as-victim aspect of her story.
That's the amusing part of the whole thing. The media plays it both ways -- empowered young woman boldly defining herself in her own terms, and innocent victim of evil masculine oppression at the hands of her Iraqi captors. And through it all, they still haven't touched on yet another angle: that of the Iraqis as victims of American hegemony, thus making the US government culpable in little Jessica's ordeal.
Who knows what really happened? And more to the point, who cares? If it's on TV, it plays.
If this had not been real life, it could have been one of those Lifetime victim-of-the-week movies, starring Tori Spelling.
If this film isn't in production yet, it soon will be. Only Tori Spelling is too old to play Jessica (thank God). And she's not plucky enough, either.

If anyone is cheapening it, it's those who fling it around like candy.True, but after reading some of the threads, the word has been used as a weapon to attack others with differing opinions and I think there's been a lot of overreaction to different aspects of the various related stories.
