Since so many on this site refuse to be associated with the Republican party, should they be using this an an invective? Hatch is Conservative and is Republican. To say otherwise is not to know his legislative record or to be so out of tune with the Republican Party or the Conservative movement as to be aptly labeled "fringe" and to be disregarded as a voice of competency.
So sayeth you, and duly noted....
I OTOH I recognize "compassionate conservativism" when I see it. The term "compromised principle" is also an associative condition that allows Rats to lie and take pot shots at traditional conservative issues without the GOP hierarchy returning damaging retributive fire. Your man Hatch is a prime offender. Perhaps he doesn't want to embarrass his fellow Democratic committee members and "friends" like Kennedy.
" Hatch is Conservative and is Republican."

Without checking you...and for the sake of argument...I'll agree.
But how does the above square with his apparent "need" to legitimize illegal aliens? Is it conservative to "award" illegal behaviour? Is it even Republican?
