She certainly was a lovely young woman. She did not deserve a creep like MS as her first and only love!

I feel that she was too trusting and naive, and Michael was a controlling, overbearing husband. That she was unhappy in her marriage and contemplating divorce just prior to her "collapse" certainly adds to my suspicions about what really happened. Michael's behavior immediately following her "collapse" and his behavior in the years following, the extramarital affairs, the children out of wedlock, melting down her wedding rings, having her pets put to sleep, keeping her parents away from her, not allowing rehabilitation, etc. all indicate a pattern of cruelty, abuse and neglect.
