Wrathful Pittsburghers fail to see humor in comic

Darby Conley, creator of the nationally syndicated comic strip "Get Fuzzy," is learning what it means to use an outdated perception of Pittsburgh in 400 newspapers around the world.
It means hate mail, death threats and the scorn of Pittsburghers everywhere.
What began as an "inside joke," Conley conceded in e-mail, "has gone pretty horribly wrong." The 33-year-old artist said he unwittingly "touched a major nerve."
"I've never gotten death threats before, and I've done some pretty controversial cartoons."

What do you think about Cavs games being televised in 'Burgh?
Well like one out of six are being televised
nationally. I still can't figure out what's supposed to be different this year. :snicker:

This strip is about as funny as "The Boondocks," which is to say NOT AT ALL. It's disgraceful that this black writer gets away with smearing Condi Rice the way he has! ...not a peep out the normal vocal black organizations. I'm surprised he hasn't called her & Colin Powel Bush's House Nigga's. Has he?

Yeah, but Cleveland is run by a really stupid Beotch.
She's a Michigan fan, you can't expect much. It's not like they had such wonderful choices last election.

East of Houston is a little blue-collar town called Sink-a-dina, aka Pasadena. It is most likely where your gasoline comes from, along with many other petro-products. Thankfully for me, there is a pervailing south wind.

Only thing I miss about the Oilers is their fight song. Terry Bradshaw said he hated going to Houston and hearing that fight song crank up. He said the Love ya blue and the house of pain thing made it the road trip he hated the most.

Cleveland? Didn't the Penguins used to have a
farm team there?

The Pens have farm teams in Wilkes-Barre and Wheeling, WV - perhaps they wanted a more cosmopolitan atmosphere than Cleveland could offer.

"Get Fuzzy" is one of the most unfunny strips of all timeNo, that would be Bizarro. I have never even cracked a smile at this one. He manages to get a few swipes in at Bush or Foxnews every once in awhile, so that must be why they keep him around.

Really? Get Fuzzy is one of my favorite new comic strips. Maybe you have to have a cat (or have a girlfriend with a cat) to appreciate them... : ) I haven't really read Get Fuzzy until I saw this article, but today's cracked me up. Talking about Canada and the cat mentions "Well, I don't think their seal hunt is too good....there's still some seals left". Maybe the writer wants to try to offend everybody, last week was Pittsburgh, this week sierra club, PETA, etc., lol.

Or perhaps the Trudeau commie strips?

I guess I would have to add Bangkok, Thailand that list...

I do too. To say it is a copy of Garfield is an insult. Garfield was funny around 1981 I think.
