Agreed. There's simply no reason or need for a draft today. If it happens, it'll be as a result of some event so horrendous that men will be lined up outside recruiting offices across the country begging to enlist anyway, and to challenge the draft will make you as universally hated as you would have been raising hell about it in 1943.
Definitely, there is no reason for a draft today.
I'm surprised this even popped up and I have to imagine somebody got chewed out for it.
If some kind of massive event doesn't happen and they reinstate the draft, whichever party is in power is finished for several election cycles.
