They are pushing to bring back the draft to give the anti-war movement a boost. They actually openly stated that. It was six or so months ago. It was talked about in length on both Foxnews and here on FR.

You don't think that if the middle east war heats up we would need & reinstate a draft?
We are not fighting a convention war, it a gurilla war, if it heated up, it would either go nuclear, chem and/or bio, in which case those that would be draft would be from medical community and most of those in the medical community are women.
About my other post, I saw some errors, because I am half asleep, I corrected the errors and reposted it.
By the way, what since does it make to forcably draft someone, train them to be a soldier and kill and then station them half way around the world as a police officer. I don't see the logic here, but I can see how many ways this can go wrong.

Conyers will be delighted if a draft is begun. He was pushing for it just earlier this year.

"Able-bodied retirees"
That phrase is almost a thing of the past. I don't even know anybody that retired close to me that was not, at least, 10%. Most hit the magic number of 30% and are collecting the larger bennies like education for retraining on a full ticket. But I had the use of a war to see some retired prematurally, and VSI/SSB, and closures were in my time also and those hacked a bundle of them. And even a vast amount of those went out disabled.

I don't accept Alex Jones as an authority on anything in general and this issue in particular...
Ok----I sometimes have a problem with Alex myself..... But.......there are others that are saying the draft may have to be re-instated.
The national guard has seen a massive drop in recruitment.
People just dont want to sign up and be sent overseas.
Imagine having bills to be paid on a good salary. Then being told you have to go to the middle east and you will be paid a soldiers salary.
Bancruptcy.

In other words, they're perfectly happy to take the extra money from the Guard and enjoy the prestige attached to same, as long as there is no risk of actually having to
do anything beyond a weekend a month and two weeks active duty a year.
Almost all companies pay differential pay, however; if you are activated for Reserve or National Guard duty, you will get paid the difference between your civilian salary and your military pay.
But.......there are others that are saying the draft may have to be re-instated.
All Democrats. They want to return to the 1960s, so that they can get back into power.

Agreed. There's simply no reason or need for a draft today. If it happens, it'll be as a result of some event so horrendous that men will be lined up outside recruiting offices across the country begging to enlist anyway, and to challenge the draft will make you as universally hated as you would have been raising hell about it in 1943.Definitely, there is no reason for a draft today.
I'm surprised this even popped up and I have to imagine somebody got chewed out for it.
If some kind of massive event doesn't happen and they reinstate the draft, whichever party is in power is finished for several election cycles.

Yeah you are right.
The NATIONAL GUARD, was at one time used only to protect the nation.
The Guard is now used around the world.
Those who signed up for the benefits should also realize the duty that goes along with being in the Guard.

The NATIONAL GUARD, was at one time used only to protect the nation. As they were used in World Wars I & II.
Those who signed up for the benefits should also realize the duty that goes along with being in the Guard.
As we said in the Marines: "USMC is the acronym for U Signed the Mother****ing Contract."
