They heard from someone who heard from their neighbor's housekeeper who heard from the busdriver who heard an office cleaner who overheard the... no, wait... they heard from someone whose aunt heard at the hairdresser from someone whose babysitter heard from someone on the bus....
oh, nevermind. What's important is that they know someone said it!

I was equally credulous and googled the quote. Apparently, it can be attributed to Edmund Morris, Reagan's official biographer. Every reference to the quote, other than Babs', puts the "because" outside the quotes. I would like to see the statements in context. Does anyone have a copy of "Dutch"?
