"Here in America, we lately tend to hand out felonies like candy and all it does is keep people down."

I suppose you are right, we need to be easier on robbers, rapists and murderers. It's bad enough they have to spend time in prison but taking away there voting rights...how fair is that? Do you suppose there victims especially the dead ones who can no longer vote, would feel the same as you do?

Serious criminals are becoming a minority in prisons with the explosive growth of prison industry. We are making our own gulag.

Where did I say that people in jail should be allowed to vote? You just picked out pieces of my post you didn't like. Yeah, I did state that if these people have served their time we shouldn't continue punishing them. The question is, should a robber, rapist, or murderer who is a risk to continue violence be released to begin with. Some people just can't be returned to society.

I'd wager that most of those called "felons" are not murderers, rapists or robbers. You forget there is a new class of laws in this country that can even label some bad checks as a felony. Does that person, after serving their time, not deserve the right to vote or to self-defense in the form of firearms?
