I've often wondered if Hinckley had successfully killed Reagan, would there now be a gigantic cottage industry of books and movies about the "Plot to kill Reagan conspiracy" linking Hinckley to the KGB, Cuban agents, AFL-CIO, etc. etc.

My conclusion is "yes" especially if somehow Hinckley had killed Reagan and then Hinckley had been shot by the Secret Service immediately after he shot Reagan or something.

You had better believe it. You would have people, with tons of convincing evidence of course, that could prove Vice President Bush was behind it, Tip O'Neil, Jodie Foster, the Pentagon, Gorbichov and Mr. Goodwrench were all responsible.
