I saw that film on the news tonight. Geez. I'll throw a bizarre theory out there. If the shooter had wanted to kill him, he could have. He had him, deer in the headlights. Possibly, he didn't care if he killed him or not, just wanted to empty his anger at him. I think he succeeded. I think his lawyer thinks so too. Bet he had to go home and change his undies immediately.
Well, the lawyer's still in the hospital, so I think he's probably wearing hospital undies. The LA Times reports his condition as critical but stable, but other reports have him in good condition.
But who knows what the shooter's intention was. I would assume that he wasn't shooting at him just to wound him. The guy took one shot in the neck and others in his upper torso. I figured he stopped shooting at him when he ran out of bullets. He did have another gun in his back pocket, but who knows what he was going to use that second gun for.
From the LA Times story, the guy who was shot was the attorney for the trustee for a settlement in a trust fund the shooter had received as a result of the accident. There was to be a hearing on a motion to have the trustee the guy was representing because of death threats and harassment from the shooter. The shooter's sister was to become the trustee. It's hard to read at the smokinggun.com website, but it looks like the attorney requested fees of around $4000 and the trustee requested fees of around $1000 from the trust fund.
