Either you haven't met many, or you just don't like people in general. If you're only contact has been in connection with a legal proceeding, I might understand that, except that you must have hired a jerk.
Lawyers are just ordinary people who have been trained in the law, just like doctors are ordinary people who have been trained in medicine. There are jerks in both professions.
