Coffee has been served hot for decade after decade.

I don't brew my coffee hot enough to cause third-degree burns. And I expect any coffee I purchase to be that hot.

Please, remind me why I should have sympathy for that old fool,...

Because she purchased coffee with the expectation that it would be fit for human consumption. As it turned out it wasn't even fit for contact with human tissue.

Ooops! I *don't* expect it to be that hot.

How many years has McDonald's been in business? How many gazillions of gallons of coffee has McDonald's sold over the years to how many millions of people daily? And one day here comes another frivilous lawsuit. Why was the judgement seeked so high?

I don't think for one minute that McDonald's specified to whoever they bought their service equipment from to internally set the thermostats to a lethal level, do you? Would you personally as a business owner knowingly risk your customers that way?

There comes a time when this Country needs to stop being a bunch of Whiners and Enablers. Used to be something like this was even considered, the lawyers and judge who even thought of approving it would've been ridden out on a rail.

Do you have any idea how high the price of things are just because the liability factor of ambulance chasers is figured in? Take a little tour of this site for examples of the "common good" lawyers foist on Humanity.

And by the way, you selectively chose to ignore what I said about being responsible for yourself. If it's hot, it's your responsibility to check and see if it's tolerable.
