Be fair. No evidence has been produced to prove that this lawyer did not deserve to be shot.

I might agree with you under other circumstances (like maybe if the shooter didn't know he was shooting an attorney), but this assault on an officer of the court occurred at the courthouse. He must have known that his victim is a lawyer. The shooter looked "crazed" to me, almost like he just didn't care about our society or institutions.

This lawyer was apparently in control of the shooter's funds because the shooter was in some way incompetent. The shooter complained that he could not even access those funds for pain medication. I suspect that the shooter's defence attorney will call the victim to testify that the shooter is incompetent to stand trial. If the victim denies that the shooter is incompetent, then it sounds like the shooting may have been justified.
