I made it up the mountain to Crestline today by means which I will not mention here. Every business on Lake Drive is 100% intact. Debbie and Doug, your home is safe, as is all the homes on our street. I turned off your main breaker and noticed you already shut off the gas. I turned off our neighbors electrical as well. Most of the homes that are at the end of Saturn on the hillside from Skyland have been destroyed. My heart goes out to those who have lost. I spent a few hours driving around the planet streets, and with the exception of the before mentioned, everything seemed OK. Homes that overlook the valley on Crest Forest Dr. by Hwy 18 are OK with the exception of 1 or 2. Homes directly across the Cliffhanger are intact. If I can be of assistance answering any questions or concerns for anyone, reply to me and if I know something I will post it here. Good luck to all our neighbors in Crestline and surrounding areas!!

Here's an active, animated smoke movement map as provided by the NOAA. (One segment of map, covering San Diego area, not available due to closure of Miramar Air Station.)

I would be ticked if he had done that to me. My guess is that his neighbors left the power on to preserve food. If the fire hits the house it is not going to make much difference if the power is on or off.
