Most of So. Orange County (Newport Beach, Irvine, Santa Ana, Laguna Beach, Laguna Niguel, Mission Viejo, Rancho Santa Margarita) are in great shape except for the lack of sun. This is per my sister in Irvine. She said she finally saw blue sky this afternoon.
I specifically asked about Carlsbad (who was asking about that city). She said Carlsbad was in no danger.

My Mom said the same thing about the sky too.

The winds are cooler westerlies now so the coast is safe and the areas east of the fires are now in danger.

Dittos, I can confirm the report from driving around Southern OC. This was the first day in a week without soot and ash raining. It was the first day in four days without heavy amounts of smoke hanging over the cities here.
With regrets, because I know that means the winds are pushing fire into Arrowhead.
