I don't know, perhaps. We must protect this place, first, at all costs, imo. If not for Free Republic, folks like me would have zero knowledge of this event, not to mention many others. Perhaps you're right - though I wouldn't mind a list of decent places to donate to in the affected areas. I'm in Tennessee - I'd like to help out a bit, but I don't want to make the mistake of giving to a rogue agency. Any volunteer FD's in the Arrowhead Lake area? Salvation Army? Stuff like that.

meyer, wish I'd thought of the volunteer firedepts. Among the donations I sent, so far, I gave the most to the International Association of Fire Fighters.

meyer, I did the donation to the International Assoc. of FF's this afternoon. I also intend to donate to the family of the deceased Fireman from this afternoon, when they release his name. Probably send something to his local station, if and when they release that info. I tried to do major organizations first, because these people came from all over to help fight fires.
