San Diego Fire Death

1:15 p.m.

The San Diego County Sheriff's Bomb Arson Unit reports another fire-related death. A body was recovered in a home at 9848 Vista Viejas Rd. in Alpine this morning.

Investigators are unable to determine whether the victim is male or female, but they believe it could be the body of a missing 41 year old woman who resided at that address. This brings the number of fire-related deaths to 13.

12:45 p.m.

From the California Dept. of Forestry: The Cedar fire is heading north along the 79 in the St. Ysabel area moving towards the Volcan Mountain range. The activity is concentrated in the northeast, east and southeast borders.

The National Weather Service is reporting 25 mile per hours winds with gusts up to 40 miles per hour. Evacuations are in effect for Wynola, Schoolhouse Canyon , St. Ysabel and Volcan Mountain areas.

Officials ask that residents please heed evacuation orders. There are currently 33, 000 firefighters on the lines and an additional 10,000 assisting in the fire fighting efforts. There are 12 air tankers fighting the fire.

Supervisor Diane Jacob represents most of the fire area including Crest, Alpine, Julian and Cuyamaca. Community disaster centers are being set up in the affected areas and she asks to hear from residents about what they need. State Senator Dennis Hollingsworth says his office is compiling packets of information from state offices, FEMA and the federal government and will make them available at evacuation centers and assistance centers. The Paradise fire is burning just north of the Cedar fire east of Valley Center. The primary areas of concern are the northeast and eastern flanks that are moving towards Palomar and Lake Henshaw areas. Evacuations are still in effect in the area primarily due to the limited access in and out. All areas that are open are limited to residents only. 111 structures have been destroyed.
