Homes Threatened near Running Springs
RUNNING SPRINGS Fires are burning to the east and west of Highway 330 and threatening homes in the Enchanted Forest Estates neighborhood, located south of Running Springs and along the highway.
Twenty-five fire engines have been sent to help protect homes in the neighborhood that's a mix of modest and upscale homes.
The engines are scattered throughout the community. Firefighters are working to wet down vegetation and cover homes with foam.
Firefighers are prepared to write off portions of the neighborhood in the event of flames. They are using a map to plot which houses could be saved and which could be abandoned.

See the group of photos I posted in #1,780. There's a pic from Running Springs among them. Posted pics from a wide range of areas just to try to give people who aren't from So. Cal. a sense of the vast scale of this emergency.

They are using a map to plot which houses could be saved and which could be abandoned. In the business those are called "winners" and "losers."

Scanner: something about a vehicle approaching a road block on 38, turning around and speeding back up hill. Anyone else hear that one?

lol, yes I am talking about that Deer. I am hoping it lived along with thousands of others. I don't mind hunters, but I hate rampant, senseless destruction. I've pretended it made it, all day.

Early I heard the Cliffhanger Restaurant on Rim of the World Highway survived almost unscathed, everything around it burned. Maybe someone around here has been there before.

Early I heard the Cliffhanger Restaurant on Rim of the World Highway survived almost unscathed, everything around it burned. Maybe someone around here has been there before. I used to eat or have a drink there before it closed. Landmark place. Pics of all the celebs all over that had stopped there.
DEcent food.
Awesome view.
Not the place to be when it starts shaking, right onm edge of mtn.
