When I was growing up, most of the kids in my neighborhood were fairly uncreative. Instead of thinking long and hard about what you wanted to be for Halloween, you'd run with your parent to the store at the last minute, and grab a prepackaged costume made by Ben Cooper or Collegeville of some famous character. Superheroes, Monsters, and Star Wars characters were usually the favorites, but every now and then you came across a few gems that really made you scratch your head.

I always hated this sort of costume as a kid. They never looked like what they were supposed to be and they never put the slightest effort into making the body of the costume look realistic. To the contrary they usually had some sort of lame picture that screwed the whole thing up.

I never understood why anyone would wear a costume with a picture of who they were supposed to be on their chest. When I was in 2nd grade, I wore a Transformers mask and a cardboard box (decorated robot-style) to school. It was a proud day. :)

I was skeptical at first, but yes, those truly ARE the worst costumes of all time.

I was really lucky, my mom can sew and would make my costumes. I was Minnie Mouse, a princess, a cheerleader, cleopatra, a 50's girl, and some others that I can't think of right now.

The scariest thing about that Gore costume is that the DNC probably focus-grouped it for months ....

How about "Invisible Pedestrian?" Just a bunch of black sheets.
How about "Human Torch," made of oil-soaked rags?

Tackiest Halloween practice: Parent schlepping their kids across town to "Trick or Treat" in supposedly "wealthy" neighborhoods "because the candy is better."

I'd die for a Chuck Barris costume - love that Gong Show!

One year I dressed as a home entertainment center. It was a great costume.
I once dressed as an antler. That was not a great costume.
Probably the worst was the time I dressed as a valkyrie (I'm male), with a "metal bra" made from bronze-colored Leggs packaging. The costume looked fine, but for some reason all of the drunken males at the party seemed hell-bent on groping that bra....
