I probably should not be saying this, but for Gray Davis, and the Democrats running the state government, the worse this fire is, the less heat will be on them over the coming year. Gray is gone, but for those remaining, there will be less heat on them, as they use the fire for an excuse not to cut spending. They will tell Arnold that the Emergency that he stated has come to pass, and that taxes MUST be increased. If he doesnt(and he wont) he will be blamed for all of the fallout from the fire. I would not be expecting Davis and his cronies to do the right thing about the fire, they have already proven that they would sell out national security to stay in office.

I was watching NBC local L.A. news about 20 minutes ago and Grey Davis was being interviewed by some suck-up leftist newsie who asked him if the revenue from the outrageous car tax he just imposed would be going toward local fire depts (knowing full well that she was tossing him the biggest softball of all time). Boy did he eat that one up!
