" Santee is A-OK tonight"Thank you for that reassurance...

I hope I am mistaken...that is north of Big Bear City and along the evacuation route

79 begins at an interchange with interstate hwy 8 just east of Alpine ... follows a somewhat winding path north through Julian, Santa Ysabel, Warner Springs, Temecula and Hemet. It ends at an interchange with interstate hwy 10 in Beaumont in Riverside County. It runs concurrently with northbound I-15 for about three miles in Temecula

any new info on pine hills?
Nothing from here.
To: Timesink
Yes. KFI has gone wall to wall with fire coverage. No Dr. Laura or Rush(Roger). Phil actually lives in the West Valley I believe.

Just talked to my brother on the phone. He used his Law Enforcement ID to get in to Crestline just a few hours ago. He said the town is completely deserted but still in tact. Fire was visible near Twin Peaks and Silverwood. My place in Crestline is still there as is his in Arrowhead though he didn't sound or appear very positive.

KOGO reporting fire may be drifting back towards I8 and Rt 79. Area on fire. I 8 closed down both ways there. Lots of fire equipment there.

PKM....I used to live in Yucaipa (my nephew used to say MEcaipa, no YOUcaipa....MEcaipa - well you can see how that kept going around). Anyway, I lived up on Holmes St on the north side of town right before going into Wildwood Canyon. Now I'm in North Carolina, but missing "home" so much this week.....
.
Are you still in Yucaipa?? Or have you moved?? I heard there's a fire by the Ranger Station on Bryant, but thats about all I've heard regarding Yucaipa....Your info would be helpful.....Thanks....SMALL world, eh??

I guess that's why that Chief was telling them to have their escape routes available?

Always a pleasure to meet someone who is even more paranoid than I am...

I am also in Orange County (south county) and thought today's smoke was the worst. During the transition from Santa Ana winds to the onshore flow, the air became quite stagnant and didn't go anywhere.
We did get much more ash on Sunday, however, it just didn't smell or feel quite as smokey as today. My best friend and his family were evacuated from Claremont on Saturday night and stayed with us Sunday and Monday, and went back home to their house that survived by 100 yards.

Oh wow. Only way out is the 138 down to 18? They sound confused themselves.
To: BookmanTheJanitor
I was in the Coachella Valley today, so I missed it all. However, the late afternoon, one could smell the smoke even down there as the winds shifted.
