Are you referring to the hospital? I don't know except that they feel there is time and mileage still between where the fire is and Big Bear. Arrowhead hospital was evacuated right away about 4 days ago.
Bob Banfield who has been on the news for ages said he did not feel safe in Arrowhead Village now so he was moving to Big Bear. To me that says a lot when a reporter gets out.

"I just heard that 40 ambulances are on way to Big Bear to evacuate the hospital"
Wow, it sounds like they're getting serious about clearing out Big Bear. I've got a call in to my friend with a weekend home up there to see if she evacuated her important stuff out over the weekend.

[shaking head] Guess I have to defer to people who know ...more. I don't know what I don't know

hey, my friend called me from Osoyoos this summer watching those things refill all day long...

Scanner: their talking about when the fire reaches 38 - I assume the ambulances will go north, to Apple Valley because by the time they get down to mill creek via 38, the fire could be blocking their exit.

uh oh. Damn it. I was hoping it wouldn't come to this.

Report: Winds are shifting uphill west to east which is bad. Big Bear is 31 miles from Arrowhead by road.
To: anyone
How many assets will be in position to protect Big Bear and the community in Mill Creek by the time 38 is impassable?
Mill Creek is a dead end.

Me either lainie, but it just seems to me when parts of our Country flood, we should take that water out West and hose it down from time to time. I know that sounds simplistic, but really, how much trouble could that be to go water bomb those forest areas, and relieve the flooded areas too.

Necessity is the mother of invention. Unfortunately it looks like Grey Davis is invention's deadbeat dad.

They interviewed the fire captain in Arrowhead and there are a lot of personnel up there. He said they wouldn't be able to get out but they have safe havens (??) I guess there's always the lake....but they don't plan on running.

Scanner Traffic just stopped transmission. (The scanner listed on the thread's first page.)

Hopefully most people are out of Big Bear already. There will be a major traffic jam if too many people all try to get out at once.
