Could be the southwestern side, then; I haven't heard any reports as to Blue Jay recently. Admittedly, I'm trying to keep track of all the fires as best as I can, so I'm constantly searching for updated info.

This was due to arson and therefore is terrorism.

Well any terrorist designs on hurting the CA economy will be short-lived.

The insurance companies will now quickly inject a huge amount of capital into CA which will pay for a surge in home building, and a ton of added business for Home Depot which all translates into an economic boom for Southern CA.

Any criminal act (arson) done several times intentionally and with malice that kills 13 people, destroys 1,100 + homes, burns about 450,000 and effects over a million people pysically and economically is terrorism by any definition. The purpose of terrorism is to terrorize; the public has been terrorized.

Al Qaeda does not even have to be involved.

This is the scary part: random passing pyros. :-( Praying for rain in the whole state now, not in a month or 2 when we will have mudslides.

Much as I appreciate both of your thoughts on the potential motives of the arsonists, I'm desperately hoping to keep this thread as a news-only thread for fire information. There's another fire live thread which has a tremendous amount of discussion on it - so much discussion, in fact, that it's difficult to keep track of incoming current news - and that's why I started this thread.

Thank you both!

ELF has shown themselves quite willing to endanger humans by setting a $50 million fire this summer in a heavily populated area (University City near UTC). I would not be surprised if the little eco "warriors" pulled similar stunts here. Even liberals are thinking the same thing. Ironically, IF they did set these fires, the damage caused to the environment and wildlife/vegetation is far far worse than anything a Dozer could ever do.

http://www.signonsandiego.com is pretty much dedicated to covering the four San Diego county fires. Thankfully, the Otay fire and Camp Pendleton appear to be somewhat contained (for now) and the Santa Ana winds have been less fierce this time.
