I am in that area right now. My son goes to West Hills High.. We are fine. Lots of smoke around still but no homes were lost in Santee that I am aware of. It was close.. very close in many, many areas but we're ok so far.

I think the only way it could get bad again is if the winds kick up in a big way. Its blowing west right now which is in our favor (if you live in Santee..)

SO good to hear you and your area were spared... Now I wonder if you know anything about the area just south of Mission Gorge Rd, west of Mission Trails Park. I see there are a number of street closings--eg, Fontaine, Margerum, which are in the area. If the streets are closed, what does that mean...pardon my ignorance.

Thanks so much for the update! It's a big relief, especially since we can't seem to reach anyone. We're in Scottsdale, Arizona now -- left California in 1996 after 35 years.
