In 'N Out is the best! Great company. Great Burger. Growing up (20yrs ago), people used to edit their "In 'N Out Burgers" bumper stickers to read "In 'N Out urge."

I heard on the news this morning the fire outside SanDiego was an accident started by a hunter separated from his hunting party.
He thought he was lost and he set off a flare to let people know where he was. I don't call that an "accident". I call that criminally and terminally STUPID. I hope he goes to jail for a minimum of 15 years, and all of his assets are sold to satisfy the costs of what he caused.

That is reeeallly tempting.
Once a week when I get a break from caring for King Vanity I go to Newport Steak and Seafood and order a 1/2 pound cheese bacon burger gas grilled and FF with ketchup/mustard/tobasco sauce dip for the fries and a Coke.
My indulgence off of the special/boring diet.

Isn't it tradition to start new threads at the strike of Midnight?
To: Brad's Gramma
My bedtime starts when the sun comes up.
I get a 29hrs respite starting Wens at 2pm first over nighter away from King Vanity in a year.
I rented a "theme" room on the beach (the motel allows big dogs) The room I chose this time is the "Granny Room"
No TV, No Radio ect. and for me no O2 or Mist machines, feeding tube beeping ect for 29hrs. just silence and the sound of the surf.
To: oceanperch
Oh man......
Seriously? Do you get to get away for a bit? You deserve it. Big time.

oh the fires are being reported just not 24/7.. just today we had 3 calles one from MIL, my wifes coz, and my step-son all wanted to know if we were near any of the fires (no we live in north O.C.) and if we are safe.m just very smoked out and lots of ash everywhere.

His care intimidates most medically but I just had a guy come back to work after a year who is great and my regular girl also great who comes in 5hrs twice a week.
The plan while I have them here and now is to take 29hrs every other week and my two 5 hr breaks on the other weeks.
He is a handful all the way around so I never pass up an offer if I have competant help.
One year when I lived in Cali. I got a 72hr. break and checked in to the Sonoma Mission Inn and Spa was there an hour and deep into a bottle of wine when the SF earthquake hit. Our home was in Walnut Creek Ca at the time so it was a "just damn" situation. I made contact all was well with our home so I continued my respite.
Channel 8 news in Portland covering the fire now. This has got us Oregonians thinking about the fire problems here again. Our FR state board is busy getting us motivated to do something before a repeat of last year. Cascade Locks.
It has been the driest and warmest in recent history here in Oregon this summer.
Our Bisquet fires here two years ago was what you folks are going through now.
What worries me is copycat whackos in the PNW. Hopefully the tree sitters are busy up in the trees and that will prevent any arson.
I am glad FF are coming down from Wash. and Oregon to help you all.
Elf reports they started a fire in Aug. down there burning down condos being built and destroying a crane I believe it was.
So I am very suspicious in light of their claim.

LOL Man it suppose to rain pretty good on my 29hrs off. Glad I didn't decide to do the camping idea. Let's hope the rain goes to the extreme south to San Diego. Let it Pour minus any slides on ya'll big time.
To: oceanperch
So YOU caused the earthquake, didja? LOL!
Well, that's great that you're able to get away sometimes. It's good for your soul AND body.
And re: planning ahead, GOOD FOR YOU ALL!! That's incredibly wise. If I had my druthers, we'd have the men out w/their guns, just LOOKING for these bozo's, ahead of time...
God bless you, OP, real big.

The Mt Baldy Road was closed Saturday. The immediate fear was not of fire near the Baldy Village. Rather the fear was that fire lower down would block the road. It appears they were correct. The Grand Prix fire jumped the road and hit Padua Hills.
To: spectr17
Yes, the Jeffrey Pine. Huge pine cones that almost knock you out if they hit you when they fall. You've confused the 'gentle Jeffrey' with another yellow pine. The Jeffrey Pines are those with the butterscotch scented bark. They have moderately small, unprickly cones. The similar Ponderosa Pines have prickly cones. "Gentle Jeffrey, Prickly Ponderosa."
Coulter Pines have huge cones, the heaviest in the world, with very nasty spikes on them. They are unforgettable. One of those hitting you from a height of 30' would do serious damage.
All three of these pines have been hit hard by the drought and beetle infestation.

FOX News just said the fire burning up toward Lake Arrowhead, out of control, the firefighters are basically in retreat.....they do not feel they can stop it at this point.....very bad news coming out of that area. 45,000 homes at risk they said; they also reported because of the extensive beetle attacks, there's extensive dead growth fueling fire.
