It appalls me that due to fact that California fires are as frequent as auto accidents news stations consider it stale material regardless of the numbers. It just doesn't excite them anymore. Just another grass fire in the West. Ho hum! Deplorable what T. V. has done to the compassion of humanity.

Every person up there who doesn't need to be there, risks the life of a fire fighter. Every car that doesn't need to be there, is an incindiary device waiting to go off.
We are going to need to pull together as Californians in the next several days and weeks.

Homes reportedly burnt near Valhalla High SchoolThat's what I was afraid of. Thanks.

Those twits "striking" in the middle of all of this are exactly what gives everyone in CA such a bad name. Un-flipping-believable!

I heard a stat on the radio today that the largest fire in San Diego is the size of the city of Chicago... Which is probably larger than the entire peninsula where I live ;-)
Yet instead of live coverage we get warmed-over stories on the cable news channels.
It's appalling. This is exactly what all news networks were supposedly created for.
I realize some of us here on the east coast jokingly say we would like to see California disappear into the Pacific - but I would like some network coverage of it happening. (end of bad humor attempt)

1,100 homes burnt.I'm putting that in mental perspective and it is not a pretty picture. That's devastating. I feel bad for all of those people. Its pretty much everything they've worked for all their life, burned up in a puff of smoke.

I heard a stat on the radio today that the largest fire in San Diego is the size of the city of Chicago...John and Ken were saying that the combined total of the fires is equal to half of Rhode Island. If half of Rhode Island was on fire, it would be on the news!

"... (end of bad humor attempt)" On behalf of all of us, thanks.
