Michael Schiavo's attorney vows to keep fighting

The husband of Terri Schiavo will pursue his legal fight to carry out what he believes are his wife's wishes not to be artificially kept alive and will challenge the intervention by Governor Jeb Bush that reinserted her feeding tube.

The tube was replaced Wednesday at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater, where Schiavo was taken after Bush, empowered by rushed legislation by state lawmakers, ordered her kept alive.

Her husband Michael Schiavo's attorney, George Felos, says he will go to court Monday to challenge the constitutionality of the governor's actions. Felos says his client has been bolstered by the outpouring of public support on his behalf.

Michael Schiavo says his wife wouldn't want to live in this state.

The case is one of the nation's longest and most contentious right-to-die cases. Terri Schiavo has been in what doctors call a "persistent vegetative state" since 1990. Her eyes are open, but doctors say she has no consciousness.

The feeding tube had been removed by court order Oct. 15 at the insistence of Michael Schiavo, who has custody.

I know of no other as such a low life as Michael Schiavo who would starve his sick wife to death and even deny her a drink of water. I hope he gets what he justly deserves.

The type of sicko that sits in the same office with me every day at work. He and I had a big discussion of this yesterday. He said to me "put yourself in the woman's shoes, and tell me you wouldn't want to die instead of living like she is." My response to him: "YOU put yourself in this woman's shoes and see if you would like to be starved to death. You can't even make it through 8 hours of work without filling up your trash bin with packaging from junk food." Needless to say, the conversation ended with this comment.

The only one who said she wanted to die is Michael. In consideration of his character, should we believe him? Does he stand to gain anything if she dies? In my mind, there's one "yes" answer and one "no"; you can decide which goes where.

Moreover, suicide for nonterminal patients is illegal, based on what I've read from postings of the Fla. State Constitution and law. Many of us have felt suicidal in the past. Most of us could say we're glad we're still alive. Why would not the same be true of Terri? Why would she not be able to recover somewhat given the chance hitherto denied her by this selfish, greedy man, who will not even allow religious pictures in her room?
