Do the hospices get a lump sum per patient, or per patient per day?

Hard to say.

I'd have o assume (since ALL medical is on a per day, per needle, per sheet of toilet paper basis, that the charge goes tot he insurance company (trust fund - supposedly, unless the lawyer/hospice director was bleeding BOTH Terri and the Hospice dry!) is "per day"

Fixed $, per PT, per day. In addition, most hospices have a policy of caring for any PT, regardless of ability to pay.

However, hospice care is separate from "room and board" in an inpatient facility, such as she is in.
