The proble is that the medical community is increasingly blurring the line between "terminally ill" and "life impaired". Terminally ill is a strawman in this debate.

Isn't there a media celeb medical "ethicist" from Harvard(?) who has advocated executing infants under the age of six months who show signs of "imperfection"?

But I've known people who were terminally ill, and either committed suicide or had a doctor help them medicate themselves to death. I think the common denominator is value of life. I believe that Terri Schiavo's case has been handled correctly, the legislature and Bush have acted appropriately. They will next determine what her physical condition truly is. I don't believe this case has ended, and I expect there to be even more lawsuits coming from Michael. In the meantime, we all have much to be grateful for... but this doesn't erase the fact that she should have had a DNR. Absent that, all of the different scenarios come into play.

"The proble is that the medical community is increasingly blurring the line between "terminally ill" and "life impaired". What angers me so is the media's complicity in perpetrating the lie. Also, in listening to the discussion on the floor of the Florida House the other night, especially to those who opposed Terri's Bill, I couldn't help but wonder if some of those folks knew what was happening and had an agenda, or if they really were ignorant of the facts of the case and that they too were relying on the mainstream media for information. If that is the case, then the media is wielding even more power than we believed and needs to be neutralized. This case has proven that it can be done, but look at the whale of an effort it took on the part of how many people!
