I always vote against retaining them. Frankly just don't want my tax dollars paying for their retirement. In the case of trial court judges, that may be a good idea. The harm that comes from having a case stay in the hands of a bad judge for ten years is much greater than the good that comes from having a case stay in the hands of even the best judge.

(Why is it that the more "gun safety" laws are passed, the less safe my guns seem?)

Seriously. We had a guy named Judge Sands who had a vendetta against my hometown. The case had something to do with desegregation in housing and schools. Totally wacko, off-the-charts leftists orders this judge gave. One to the point that the city tried to take him to the Supreme Court (it was rejected).
I believe the case went on for over 20 years. Might still be going on in some form.
