It's the summers that'll kill you or drive you crazy in the north - mozzies and blackflies.
Almost everyone watches satellite TV for entertainment, anyways. CBC Radio is mere background noise.
CBC Radio sucks harder than gravity pulls, I think; that would explain its ubiquity in those parts of the country that consist mostly of rocks. ;^)

I've picked up 50,000 watt KXEL of Waterloo, Iowa (which is a directional north station) while fishing in N. Ontario. Maybe they don't care for more or less continuous hog and grain markets.
