What I don't understand is why a "stay of execution" can't be extended since she is being executed through starvation and has done nothing wrong. Plus the circumstances of her injury are questionable as well as the conflict of interest. Surely Jeb can do something with that.

He is a coward, and a pathetically political creature, obsessed with avoiding any offense to his opponents -- even at the cost of alienating his base.
