I only found FreeRepublic 3 years ago.
I have not said anything except to ask you to elaborate about what should be done in the absence of her clear decision about what she would have wanted.
And I answered clearly - that question is answered in the laws that are on the books today, and is being done today.
Now who is playing God?
Certainly not me. And, there's only one other person on this discussion in this thread.
You can trust me 150% on this, if you want to be dehydrated to death when your time comes, I will not come and worry one second about you. Nor will I ever try to stop you.
Thank you. My Living Will is worded in such a way as to make such interference on your part impossible anyway, but its the thought that counts.
My concern is for those who have not said this is what they wanted, and the choice is being made for them.
As it has to be, for they did not have the foresight to file a Living Will. The law is not always the best solution, but it beats the alternative - anarchy.
As well as for the many people who have been forced into death by dehydration even when asking for food and water.
When did Terri Schiavo ever "ask" for food and water?
I am not aware that she ever did, but quite a few people before her time did.
You keep dreaming about that personal choice and how much water your piece of paper will hold when the time comes. I know differently, but I hope you sleep well at night all the same. They do say bliss is possible under some conditions.
