I'll take a swing at answering that one: Gov. Bush hasn't done anything because, despite the importunings of the lawyers that the Schindlers hired, he knows he has no such authority. Don't you think that a state governor would consult with, say, his attorney general, or with the governor's legal counsel, on something like this, rather than relying on legal briefs from people who were in the pay of one of the parties involved in the case????
On the other hand, he can count votes, and knows which side of this debate his core constituency is on, so he is making loud, public, sympathetic noises. But that's all he's going to do. That's my prediction.
