Your senses are the limits of empirical study. What you can see, taste, smell, hear or feel or can find evidence that you can see, taste, smell, hear or feel constitutes impirical analysis. We use many tools to help us use our senses; microscopes, telescopes, et al.
Dictionary definition of empirical (yes, I've been spelling it wrong): Verifiable or provable by means of observation or experiment.
