I watched this speech on CNN International. This guy is very dangerous because he skillfully blends the Koran with admonitions to pursue modern science with rank anti-semitism. At no time did he appear to be hysterical, never did he raise his voice, his summons was not the emotions but to "reason."
Essentially, he wants Muslims to be better scientists so they can have more and better Made in Muslimland weapons to defeat their enemies and occupyiers (read Jews and Americans).
There was some brighter aspects to his welcoming speech: First, he calls for and end to terrorism, but because it is ultimately self defeating and rusults only in uniting the world against the Muslim religion. Second, in his call for Islam to return to the scientific method which marked its apogee 1400 to 1000 years ago, he is opening the door for a shaft of sunlight which can kill fundamentalism as though it were a vampire.
As bad as he is, one must wonder if he has marked himself for assination because he is not radical enough for the crazed Islamists - so far round the bend has this religion gone. One cannot entertain fundalmentalism and the scientist's devotion to his method in the same philosophy unless one is schophrenic.
