Sheesh, try to educate yourself, even partially, on the topic before you post what I am sure is your unemotional considered opinion on the judicially ordered starvation of a non-terminal disabled woman in Florida.

"Vegetative" is a medical term. She has been in that state for thirteen years while her parents have fought this decision.

She has been dead for thirteen years. That little bit of grey matter that she is using is the same stuff a baby uses in the womb and even it is apparently damaged.

There is no Terri. There has not been one for thirteen long years and the only reason her body is alive is due to medical intervention. All this baloney about her trying to talk and recognizing faces is emotional hope and failed wishes.

This sort of thing happens every day in nearly every hospital on the planet. Usually it is settled and done within days or weeks and the loss is mourned, the funeral held and the body is lay-ed to rest.

But, not here. Oh no!

For thirteen years they have kept this body with less ability than a common garden snail in this bed as they fight in the courts.

It is insanity. It is wrong! It is stupid human crap that is not based on any reasoned explanation.

Let her go.

Explain why her beloved husband doesn't want her to have any care, or pictures taken, or never ALLOWS her to go out with her parents. Hubby couldn't have an agenda,could he?

Have you even bothered to view the video on her website?
Or like the media, do you just parrot whatever pablum is spoonfed you.
She is not braindead. She is not a"vegatable".She is not in a coma.
Get a grip on reality.
Or not.
I could frankly care less.
But do not pretend to correct me with your shallow version of the known facts, when you are so obviously ignorant of them in this case.

Wirestripper, your heartless, Hitleresque attitude toward a LIVING---yes, LIVING---human being is DISGUSTING!!!!!

Nineteen years ago, my daughter was born with severe mental and physical disabilities. The Doctors told us that she only had 26 days max to live. We began planning for her funeral as soon as I got out of the hospital---just 30 hours after walking in the hospital doors (which back then was fast).

She is now NINETEEN YEARS OLD! (Doctors DON'T KNOW everything).

She neither walks nor talks, she does not feed herself, she still wears diapers, and she functions at about a year and a half level. And she is a dwarf.

She has had a feeding tube, fundoplycation, Broviac line, Trach (and was on a respirator in our home for 3 early years with privacy-eliminating round-the-clock nursing in our home), several eye surgeries, and scoliosis/kyphosis surgeries. She no longer has any of those things.

And she is the most LOVING girl. She LOVES to snuggle. She LOVES to go to her "special needs" school and LOVES to go on the school bus every morning. She also LOVES to go in the car and on an airplane.

She almost died SEVEN TIMES, and I had to rush her into the hospital myself several of them. She has seisures, one of which lasted an hour and 15 minutes. The ER Doc asked me if they had orders to DNR. I asked what DNR was. He said "Do Not Rescusitate." I said "You absolutely DO NOT have such orders...GET IN THERE AND HELP HER!!!!!"

After a 15 year gap and 4 miscarriages in 13 months, and after finally talking my husband into another child, we had another little girl. She is quite smart, active and of average size.

Wirestripper, we don't love our older daughter any more---OR LESS---than our younger daughter. And I'm sure Terri's parents don't have any love-difference for their kids either.

By YOUR standards, my older daughter is apparently "vegetative." By MY standards, although I would prefer that she did not have any problems, I wouldn't trade her for the world!!!!

Terri's PARENTS LOVE and care about her...Her so-called formerly "till death do us part" husband obviously does NOT!

GOD knows best, NOT man! Starving a disabled person is ABSOLUTELY ABHORRENT!!! The so-called husband would be in PRISON if he did starved his DOG or CAT!!!
