Just damn.If you want on the new list, FReepmail me. This IS a high-volume PING list...
[As i mentioned, the B/C & JD! lists are going to float into and out of whack over the forseeable future, while I try to cobble a rig back together for myself. My apologies for any incovenience or misunderstandings in this time frame. New signups/removals may be flaky in this time-frame as well; please bear with me, and keep in mind you may have to FReepmail me more than once for me to get it done. Thanks again!]

Pan_Yan used to come home from a day at working in the shipyard with one or two of these black rings on his fingers.
In Navy lingo, they are called "o-rings". LOL

At least they are asking and granting permission first.
I think it's an improvement in civility over the average teen.

The trend, which seems to exist strictly among middle school studentsBull. I met a 34 y.o. woman this summer who was wearing them.

A recent study shows that one out of five have had sexual intercourse by age 15. One out of seven get pregnant by the same age.
That's an interesting study. More than 3.5 out of every 7 15 year olds can't get pregnant, being male. That means, presumably, that one of every 3.5 15 year old girls gets pregnant at or before that age. Note they said only one out of five has actually had intercourse. 1/5 is a smaller number than 1/3.5.
There are a lot of camels and kings heading out all over this land....

Oh, and most 15 year olds are in High School, not middle school.

Anybody got a link to a pic? I want to be on the lookout for these at my school.

I bought two dozen of these bracelets, and they don't work.

I just wanted to know what they look like, so I could forbid them intelligently. :-)

But sex, researchers say, is on the minds of more and more middle school students. A recent study shows that one out of five have had sexual intercourse by age 15.It's a good thing they get all the sex education courses in school they do.
Otherwise, they might get into some sort of sexual trouble at such a young and tender age, what with all those nasty sexual temptations going on around them!

I don't know what banning bracelets is going to do.
Horny little kid's are gonna find a way to grab each other anyway.
Parental values have to be instilled looooong before that.
To: mhking
This has nothing to do with bracelets.

Must be a Svengeli Effect. Bracelets = Sex. I've never heard of plastic bracelets being an aphrodisiac before.

YES, we have found the solution!
Just take away their bracelets and your kids will NEVER engage in any sexual activity!
Why didn't we think of this years ago?

Ah ....
But by the time the "adults" among us have found out, not only has the damage been done, but the middle-schoolers have gone on to the next fad. What one group does is mimiced and copied, but what they're really doing is probably not exactly what the article says. (SOME are doing worse, some nothing, some only "say" they're doing it to feel like the in crowd. )
Then, two years later, the school administratiors respond .... to a problem that no longer exists.
By which time, the kids resist by doing something even more atrocious.
(By the way, isn't this part of the "socialization" that the NEA says homeschoolers are missing out on?)

hmm... I wonder why they think banning the bracelets will stop any of what is going on? How about actually paying attention to what the kids are doing instead?

Hell, I had these when I was in middle school...back in the 80's.What is next to make a come back?....the big shoelaces worn as ties?...the safety pins with beads worn on shoes and jackets?...or one of the other silly things we did to seem cool?
