I by no means am trying to trivialize their sacrifices. I do, however, deplore the major media with their screaming headlines: One dead..., Three dead..., etc. in an attempt to smear the president, et al. I remember in the 60's the reports of hundreds killed at a time. In the 40's, it was thousands at a time. With the current death rate of US soldiers in Iraq, about one in 500 would be expected to die in a year, many of these just in accidents. Meanwhile, in the US, about one person per hundred will die in a year from all causes, which is about 8,000 per day. Admittedly, most of these are elderly, but the statistics from Iraq are not as grim as they would have us believe.
