BREAKING: President Trump invokes Defense Production Act requiring General Motors to "accept, perform, and prioritize federal contracts for ventilators."
POTUS says #COVID19 is too urgent to "allow the give and take of the contracting process to continue to run its normal course" pic.twitter.com/MZnIt6Lb3r— David Begnaud (@DavidBegnaud) March 27, 2020
Whats the supply chain look like to get all the parts produced to put a ventilator together? How many of those parts are made in China?
How long to re open a factory and get the proper permits from the state as well as a co once all work is completed to re open?
It’s not like they walk into a building , turn the lights on and start assembly.
Who has a ready made design waiting to get built?
Negotiations already broke down with GM so I’m sure ordering them to do something is going to work well. Send in the 65 year old janitor and tell him to get busy scrubbing that 200,000 sqr ft building space or whatever it is. He should be finished by November or so.
