As Tucker’s book documents, Kristol was not opposed toTrump as a candidate until Trump made clear that he opposed the Iraq War and that Bush committed a historic blunder by invading Iraq

If you scratch a never trumpet you ALWAYS find somebody who still thinks the Iraq War was a great idea, and hates Trump for being the first GOP candidate to say otherwise. Trump broke the spell, allowing Republicans to say out loud what they really thought about the Iraq war. The never trumpets hate Trump for that

“If you scratch a never trumpet you ALWAYS find somebody who still thinks the Iraq War was a great idea....”

And I’m one of them. I was there, a few times, and know why we were needed there as what we did I’m sure saved a lot of lives, there and here. The real information about what happened in the middle east will never be released as long as there is a terrorist threat still out there and sensitive information can still be linked. An example that people think they know is about the large detonation of the Kamisiyah ammunition depot which exposed over 5000 troops to sarin and a horrible gas developed in the 1950’s called VX nerve gas that was given to Saddam during the Carter administration for his efforts toward Iran. There was also a huge shipment after the war of enriched nuclear cake that was shipped to Canada to be re-enriched from weapons grade to industrial grade that included the last of it in 2008. That shipment was 550 metric tons.

Tack that on to the trips by Ben Laden for treatment to Baghdad a few times, and you’ve got a real problem. Furthermore, Saddam fired missiles into Israel during the Gulf War, 1990-91, that are reported to be conventional. But there was a plan in the works that if Saddam felt he was losing power, there was a list of places to hit with bio and chemical warheads involved.

On one of the tapes broadcast over radio, the Iraqi dictator told the visiting Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat in April 1990 — four months before Saddam invaded Kuwait — that “Iraq has chemical weapons it successfully used against the Iranians” during the eight-year Iran-Iraq War, “and Iraq won’t hesitate to use them against Tel Aviv.”

This guy was a world war about to happen. And the information everyone had ended up with the support of 23 nations and with four others sending troops downrange and NATO. Denmark, United Kingdom, Australia, and Poland along with us. A lot of places, and people, were on the edge of oblivion. He needed to be taken out of power.

And they did the same with Ben Laden. But they just shot him.
