Velasco also quotes Bill Britt who owns is a notorious leftist smear blog, without identifying that the source is not unbiased.

My cousin was fourteen. Her husband was 31. That was in Georgia, 1974. I was 18 and my wife was 16 when we started dating. 1976. We married at 19 and 17. They wouldn’t let us do it now. So let’s just transpose today’s rules on who you could ask for a date back then brought to us by people who think you should be able to marry your dog.
