Of course it wasn't his campaign, it was one of his donors. Of course he didn't have anything, the dossier release was delayed until after he was eliminated from the nomination.
I'm going to venture that it was a group of scumbags that all got taken by this Steele creep. He probably solicited money from anybody he thought would like to see Trump go down, on both sides of the aisle. Hillary, Jeb, Marco, McVain and Romney are probably all on the list.
