There are some people like that in Maine but they are not the majority. Hell, there are people like that in Texas, too, also in the minority (thankfully).
Maine has the most conservative governor in the country in the form of Paul lePage. He is term-limited next year, but he may run for the U.S. Senate in 2018 against so-called “Independent” Angus King, who is a liberal. I would love to see Gov. LePage become Senator LePage.
We’ve had open carry here for years and both the GOP and some democrats passed Constitutional Carry two years ago.....no permit needed to carry a firearm concealed in your vehicle or on your person.
Firearms are a way of life here; we have little crime, except for the opiate problem.
Michael Bloomberg managed to get “universal background” checks on the ballot last November, but the voters said NO, in spite of the gun grabbers running endless commercials in favor. The sheriffs of Maine ran their own commercials, opposing Bloomberg and his bid to end private gun sales in Maine. The police chiefs, unlike the sheriffs, were on Bloomberg’s side.
I’ve lived here for 25 years after previously living in California and Long Island, NY before that, and I can assure you that Stephen King the nutjob leftist is anything but your “typical Mainer,” any more than abortion Barbie or Sheila Jackson Lee is your typical Texan.
