In 2004, her vote for the Iraq war kept her from running. And, what, exactly, was the impetus for the Iraq War? 9-11. My point stands. Her best shot at ever attaining the Presidency would have been, in a world where 9-11 never happened, in 2004.
She never recovered from that 'bolt out of the blue' on that mild September Tuesday morning. She has been trying ever since, to overcome the effects of that morning, and has had little success in overcoming that blow, and likely never will, at this stage...

If there wasn't 9/11 she would have sold her vote for something else that would have cost her the dem nomination.
Her support is almost entirely east of the Hudson.

The problem with such a hypothetical is that Bush the Younger would have been a very different type of president had 9/11 not happened. He might have been pretty strong in 2004.
I'm of the mind that 2004 was a bit early to be thinking about Clintons again, and eight years as FLOTUS combined with a half-term in the Senate (Obama was a VERY special case) would not be enough to have her qualified under the old standards.
