As a Constitutional lawyer, Texas Senator Ted Cruz knows a thing or two about the law.
As a conservative senator, he knows what a tank of sharks Washington, D.C. can be.
After todays announcement by FBI Director James Comey that Hillary Clinton would skate on charges of wrongdoing, in regards to her hiding, destroying, and total mishandling of sensitive emails, Senator Cruz made a strong statement.
From his Facebook page, and in its entirety:
While I have tremendous respect for the dedicated men and women of the FBI, I have serious concerns about the integrity of Director Comeys decision, and how it threatens the rule of law.
Director Comey has rewritten a clearly worded federal criminal statute. In so doing, he has come dangerously close to saying that grossly negligent handling of classified information should not result in serious consequences for high-level officials. In a nation where the rule of law is supposed to matter, this is troubling.
Yesterday, Americans celebrated the 240th birthday of our Republic. We honored not only those who fought and died to defend our way of life, but the constitutional Republic for which they sacrificed. If we are to remain a beacon of hope and freedom for the rest of the world, it is incumbent upon us to ensure that we remain a nation of laws, and that our laws apply equally and fairly to us all. Under President Obama, we have seen the most politicized Department of Justice in history; I very much hope that politicization has not similarly corrupted the Federal Bureau of Investigation. I join my Senate Judiciary colleagues, including Chairman Grassley, in calling for public transparency of, and full access to, all the information that the FBI used to come to todays dubious decision.
I dare say, unless you have a transcript of the chance meeting between Hillarys lecherous, corrupt husband, and the equally corrupt Attorney General Loretta Lynch from last week, you wont get the whole story.
Ill go further and say that Clintons recent suggestion that she may keep Lynch on as AG, once she rousts her pal, Trump, in the general election, doesnt seem like a You scratch my back, and Ill scratch yours scenario, at all!
Or maybe just a little.
These are the reasons we need men like Senator Cruz in the Senate.
Oh to have back J. Edgar Hoover!
Exactly! Until I hear that, I don’t care what he says.
Trump supporters can call Cruz anything they want no facts, no truth needed.
His lies got to me. He should understand you can't talk your way out of what you behaved your way into.
For real gravitas, he should have headed to Twitter...
________
LOL
>>>”ignoring the incoming from our own side”
Praising Saddam as a terrorist fighter is incoming from Trump.
> Id really like for Hillary not to be president. If your stance is they should be hanged by the neck until dead then youre doing nothing but helping the democrats.
> Again, its a recipe for failure in November.
How?
I fail to see how “hang those that commit Treason” would help Hillary to become President... especially since it would show a real will to hang those that commit Treason... people just like her.
Besides, hanging the Treasonous Senators would vastly alter the election in that it is the Senate that presides/certifies the Electoral College’s vote... and do you think that these new Senators will be willing to risk their lives on shenanigans after their predecessors were hanged? (Assuming the case could get through sentencing by mid-Nov... if they can’t, then we have a *LOT* of scrutiny on them as things go forward.)
So, again, I don’t see how Hillary would benefit from those 98 people being charged and prosecuted — it would likely spur THEM to spend money and attention on trying to worm out of it rather than on helping Hillary to win. (And what do you think would happen if the case did come out and then Obama tried to pardon them? Given that he signed it into law he wouldn’t be able to legitimately pardon himself.)
I’m waiting for Cruz and Trump to bury the hatchet and team up. I’m hoping they will do that at the convention, and there Cruz will make a powerful speech endorsing Trump and focusing on putting aside personal desires for the good of the country.
Yes, I live in a fantasy world.
In case you were wondering.

I’m sorry, you’ve totally lost me here in context of actually winning the election in November. No doubt you have a narrative in mind, i just think it is not the least bit realistic.
Thanks for your discussion and I wish you the best.
> Im sorry, youve totally lost me here in context of actually winning the election in November.
It’s much more than merely winning in November that we have to do — we have to push for Justice, real, actual, Justice. (AKA the Rule of Law.) Without that our government will die of the cancer that is corruption, it’s been obvious in recent decades, but the immune-system of the united States (the people) have been taught a learned-hopelessness and beaten down again and again. It is us that must demand that our government BE Just, and if they will not, then we should MAKE them. (That is, after all, what the Second Amendment is about.)
I see the same old Trumpbots on FR are still focused on bad mouthing Ted Cruz and rubbing his and his supporters noses in it.
Yes, it's grown tiresome. That's why I don't come here as often as I used to. The Zot Brigade controls traffic here now, and many of my friends have departed for other websites.
Yes, one cannot carry on a civil discussion anymore with these people putting everyone they disagree with down all the time. And many of my friends have also left for other websites. They no longer give any financial support to FR for that reason.
I’m still hanging around hoping this is only temporary and the air will clear. Maybe then we will be able to discuss conservative issues like adults instead of experiencing the the personal attacks and juvenile mentality displayed over at DU. But maybe I am wasting my time. The future will tell.
Almost as pointless as your constant Cruz bashing.
And BTW, you're no xenomorph. d;^)
That's never pointless. The NeverTrump movement is a Cruz movement.
I remember when all the threads from CruzBots demanding Trump supporters be mass zotted because they had the temerity to do things like: demonstrate Ted Cruz supported legalization of illegals, despite lying to millions of people on national TV about it. The Trump supporters ended up winning the debate about Cruz's character, and Trump won the nomination, so the Cruzers fled like the roaches they are, though a few remain, poking their head out from the cracks in the wall with tears in their eyes.
The people of Texas will never give this man another term in the Senate.
Why would we not?
Because he lied to Texans about his nationality, how he funded his campaign, his support for legalization, his manipulation of religion, his shilling for the Chamber of Commerce, etc.
We Texans will throw him out, and he is quite vulnerable. There was a poll out that had him with only the support of 55 percent of Republicans.
Cruz is damaged. Blood is in the water! CALL THE SHARKS AND FEEEEED!!
