I’ve never understood why the Dems couldn’t find better horses than Clinton and Sanders (and O’Malley) to put into the race.

The Democrats had a MUCH better horse, and one that, just maybe, have been able to sway the “uncommitted middle” they are so fond of saying the Republicans should groom themselves to attract.

Jim Webb, a former Secretary of of the Navy and Assistant Secretary of Defense (under Reagan), and a decorated USMC officer, who was in actual combat against an enemy that was firing live rounds AT him, was just the profile that could have taken the Democrats to victory with this “uncommitted middle”. Trouble was, that is also exactly the profile that Democrats would NOT vote for, in any election.

I think any other Democrat who might have thought himself or herself a plausible candidate was either afraid of the Clinton machine, or had already been coopted by it. If she had had to face 16 serious opponents, would she be coasting to a nomination?

Poor Vince Foster. His death has made a lot of Democrats think twice about crossing the Clintons.

The Clinton Machine and the Soros Machine have crowded out any serious opposition. They both play very hard and very dirty. No one dares to confront them, and most instead try to be coopted by them.

So, the result is that in this entire party there is no serious candidate to oppose them which is why the Bernie saga is so amusing. He was not supposed to win, but the people who don’t like Hillary have nowhere else to go except Bernie or Trump.
