Heh, I was a combat engineer, but I still had to “qualify” on rifle for my badge to get into airborne at fr. benning.
I was such a bad shot (I’m from Chicago, I had never fired a rifle in my life), my e6 worked with me for weeks to qualify because I was a licensed heavy equipment operator.
I swear he was ready to shoot ME. I didn’t know the value, and in ‘65 I swore I din’t need a rifle. by ‘67 I had one over my shoulder at all times (our perimeters were not so point”) I was scared for my life and I had wished I knew better how to shoot!
I took a gun class again in the 80’s, but still I was horrible shot. I wish I was the Dirty Harry type, lol, I just can’t shoot the broad side of a barn.
