I just posted on an article about Trump’s strange support of ethanol subsidies, that I was as naive about Trump as Cruz was about McConnell, when I saw this article about Trump donating $50,000 to a Rove PAC to save McConnell and oppose Constitutionalist and TeaParty candidates.

Are you being naive about Trump, also, or are you ok with Trump’s apparent hypocrisy regarding cronyism and back room deals?

The McConnell thing I addressed previously: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3385998/posts

Similarly I did discuss the ethanol issue: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3385998/posts

I am not suggesting you should have know what I posted at all, just too lazy to post it all again : )

I don't think Trump is a hypocrite in this respect at all. I think he has been very honest that he needed to work with Democrats and Republicans in his business life to get things done. That is a fact of life. I do not believe that will ever change, in Washington or in most big cities around the world, not just in America.

I think donating to McConnell was not a rebuke of Bevin I think Trump was asked, as he said so many politicians have visited him to ask, and felt it would be impolitic to refuse. I wanted McConnell gone but I don't think Trump's 50K kept him, it was the second smallest donation on that page of McConnell's donors.

The ethanol issue irks me some but I think Trump was treading a thin line. He said that the provisions of Congress should be obeyed. That may be a nuanced statement. It may be that its a way of not alienating the Iowans knowing that Congress needs to change the Ethanol requirement because the admixture is more polluting that gas, raises food prices etc etc etc.

There are going to be areas where I am not going to agree with Trump's approach or any candidates approach but....

I will be happy if he handles some of the big issues:

1. The wall

2. A revised immigration policy that puts America's needs first and ends the quota system which nets us so many unemployable people who can't speak our language.

3. Strengthening our military

4. Protecting our police and letting both do their jobs.

5. Bringing the veterans into privatized healthcare so that they have the same standard of care as other Americans.

6. An intelligent healthcare overhaul with the aim of reducing costs for everyone by allowing insurers to bid across state borders and eliminating bureaucracy & Obamacare.

7. Reversing Government overreach such as Common Core.

8. Reviewing America's treaties, revising them to get the best terms we can and then living up to America's commitments so that we may again be proud of our Nation

... to name a few.

If Harry & Nancy get a few million for a library in their towns I can live with that. Hell I would be overjoyed with that.
